Lyriqas project

Lyriqas is a project that seeks to study, explore in praxis and share within the contemporary tradition through new performative and artistic means of expression common links in classical European culture through the medieval texts, focusing on the Galician-Portuguese lirica.

Through shared residencies new creative products will be developed with the objective to engage new audiences and enhance the dissemination of our common culture.

Theatre residence
The Theatre Residence will take place in two different moments, with the same 9 participants (3 per country) and will be focused in collective workshops based on improvisation, acting procedures, physical theatre, drama activities, all of it inspired on texts of Medieval and Renaissance period.

a) Residence I
The first phase of the Theatre Residence will focus on team building through theatre activities. The second phase will approach improvisation with texts via different methodologies (drama activities, Stanislavsky and Brecht approaches, Interactive-Participatory Theatre processes etc.)

b) Residence II
In the second residency all participants from the different disciplines (27) will be able to work together, share and co-create original pieces.
This phase is focusing on Editing and Creating the final version of the Performative Parts which will then be presented at the Lyriqas Festival.
Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered by the project.

Working methodology
Participants are called to be ready to improvise, perform and re-create new improvisations based on theatre workshops with texts.

Participants’ profile
– Students, at the final level of undergraduate studies and/or postgraduate students of Theatre Studies, or graduated from Professional Schools, and Professional Artists
– Age 18 – 35
– Fluent English
